Finding Families Their Perfect Puppy. Adoption Deposit is Refundable!

We hope your home is filled with lots of love and laughter with a little puppy romping around. We will reiterate the feeding requirements below and please continue this for the full 14 day transitional period. The biggest concern that we have with day 3 is that the puppy is getting more comfortable with his/her environment and is more active, this makes for puppy to be more likely to go into hypoglycemia! Feeding, using the directions below, is VERY important. Rest time is crucial for your puppies mental development, no more then 45 min of playtime and then he needs to take a rest.

Feeding: Your new puppy should have dry food (Royal Canin Mini Puppy) available at all times during the transition period (first 14 days). A common mistake that clients make is trying to schedule feed a new puppy that is still transitioning into their new environment. You can start this after the first 14 days, but please do not until that time. Its far more important that your new puppy does not go into hypoglycemia(LOW SUGAR).

Twice a day feed:

Mix together and offer to your puppy! Your puppy should love it! Your puppies size will dictate the amount of the food he/she is able to eat.

After meals, you need to syringe your new puppy 9cc (3 syringes) of just baby food/Karo. Remember, its 1 syringe Karo into 1 jar chicken baby food and mix. Put remainder in the refrigerator. You have an extra syringe in the transition kit, be mindful not to put the syringe down the puppies throat and aspirate him, just put the baby food mixture on the tongue and let the puppy swallow it themself. Do this after he/she has eaten, its very important that the puppy eats the dry kibble mixture first.

Do NOT stop any of these steps until the first 14 days is up and your puppy has transitioned in his/her new home. After day 14, if your puppy has adjusted fully, then start to wean your puppy onto just dry kibble.

*IF AT ANY TIME THE PUPPY IS WEAK, HE/SHE MIGHT BE GOING INTO HYPOGLYCEMIA…CANT STAND UP…SLUGGISH…THEIR SUGAR MAY BE LOW. IMMEDIATELY GIVE THE PUPPY .5CC OF KARO EVERY 15 MINUTES FOR 1 HOUR. PAST THAT MIX A FULL SYRINGE OF KARO WITH CHICKEN BABY FOOD AND GIVE 3ML (FULL SYRINGE) OF THIS MIXTURE EVERY 30-45 MIN UNTIL PUPPY SEEMS STABLE AND RETURNS TO EATING NORMAL. IF THIS HAPPENS, KEEP A VERY CLOSE EYE ON THE PUPPY AND CONSULT WITH US AND/OR YOUR VETERINARIAN.
