How To Housebreak Your New Puppy

Housebreaking your new puppy doesn’t have to be stressful! In this month’s training tip, we’ll share simple, effective steps to set your pup up for success and keep your home accident-free. Watch the video below to learn how.

Did You Know?

Fun Fact: Puppies are born without the ability to regulate their body temperature. That’s why they instinctively snuggle close to their littermates (or you!) to stay warm. During their first few weeks of life, warmth, comfort, and security are just as important as food. This natural instinct to cuddle is one of the reasons dogs grow up to be such loyal and affectionate companions.

A Sweet Thank You

We are so thankful for our wonderful client, Faye, who recently adopted Bichapoo siblings Remy and Teddy from us. Wanting the very best start for her pups, Faye enrolled each of them in our preschool program, a hands-on training experience designed to build confidence, teach good manners, and introduce essential skills before heading home.

Remy was the first to complete preschool, and after seeing the difference it made, Faye decided to give his brother, Teddy, the same opportunity for her son. Under the guidance of our skilled trainer Jackie, both puppies learned important foundations such as crate training, leash walking, and socialization.

As a thoughtful thank you for Jackie’s dedication, Faye gifted her a beautiful box of chocolates. It was a sweet reminder of how meaningful it is to help set our puppies and their families up for success.

Breed of the Month: Mini Goldendoodle

The Mini Goldendoodle is a delightful cross between a Golden Retriever and a Miniature Poodle, combining the best qualities of both beloved breeds. Known for their affectionate nature, intelligence, and adorable teddy bear appearance, these dogs have quickly become one of the most popular family companions.

Personality and Temperament
Mini Goldendoodles are friendly, social, and eager to please, making them wonderful pets for families, singles, and retirees alike. They tend to get along well with children and other animals, and their playful yet gentle demeanor makes them a joy to have in the home.

Size and Care
Weighing around 35 pounds on average, the Mini Goldendoodle is the perfect size for those who want a smaller dog without losing the fun-loving personality of a larger breed. Their low shedding coat, inherited from the Poodle, makes them a great option for those with mild allergies, though regular grooming is still needed to keep their coat soft and mat free.

Intelligence and Trainability
Thanks to their Poodle heritage, Mini Goldendoodles are quick learners and respond well to positive reinforcement. Early training and socialization help bring out the best in them, and they often excel in obedience and agility activities.

Why We Love Them
Mini Goldendoodles offer the perfect blend of affection, playfulness, and charm. With their expressive eyes, wagging tails, and loving personalities, it is no wonder they hold a special place in the hearts of so many families including ours here at the Charlotte and Georgia Dog Clubs.

A Night to Remember: Supporting Make-A-Wish

We were deeply honored to be invited to attend a very special Wish Ball and contribute to a cause that means so much to us. As part of the evening’s fundraising efforts, the Charlotte and Georgia Dog Club was privileged to donate a Mini Bernedoodle puppy to the auction. This sweet puppy captured hearts and raised an incredible $14,000!

The generosity of the guests didn’t stop there—by the end of the night, an astounding $698,000 had been raised to support Make-A-Wish, an organization dedicated to bringing hope and joy to children facing critical illnesses.

This mission is especially close to our hearts. One of our amazing team members, Edna, experienced the life-changing impact of Make-A-Wish firsthand. Her sister was a wish recipient, and their family was gifted a trip to Niagara Falls. During a difficult season, they were able to step away from daily challenges, create cherished memories, and spend quality time together.

We know from stories like Edna’s that Make-A-Wish is made up of genuinely beautiful people whose compassion and dedication make the world a better place. We are proud to have played a small role in supporting their mission and look forward to continuing to champion causes that bring joy and comfort to families when they need it most.
